Kraton soldiers of Pakoe Boewono X This section presents a series of mounted photographs depicting uniformed men who served as kraton (royal palace) soldiers in the court of Soerakarta (Solo), Central Java. The men wear collars bearing the initials “PB”, identifying their affiliation with Pakoe Boewono X. Each subject also displays a numbered placard on his chest, likely part of a palace registry or identification system. The reverse side of the mounts includes the men’s names, service numbers and a date. The photographs were produced by the Heng Seng & Co. photo studio in Solo and typically measure 68 × 98 mm 2 , while the mounts usually measure 118 × 156 mm 2 .
